Here come the Girls…

“Here come the girls” is a new tag ruby initiative for secondary school girls who wish to increase their enjoyment and understanding of playing rugby.
The programme is run in conjunction with Manchester rugby club’s Under 15s girl team and involved sessions being run showing the new recruits how exciting, fun and action packed participating in the game of rugby is.
Danny Carlton and Richard Spencer who are part of the Sharks Community Coaches team have ran five weeks of tag-rugby sessions in schools around the local area. These schools included Cheadle Hulme School, Stockport Grammar, Bramhall High and Wilmslow High School. In total they have seen over a hundred girls taking part in the sessions.
Further to these sessions, the girls who took part were invited to Manchester Rugby Club to take part in full training sessions which would also lead to them taking part in matches.
They welcomed 20 new participants with at least one girl per school that they had visited. On the back of this response more and more girls are pursuing their interest in the game.
For their commitment and effort for attending the sessions through bitter weather, Manchester Rugby Club gave two complementary tickets to each girl that attended the sessions at the rugby club for the Sharks vs Exeter Chiefs game.
The allocation of tickets were donated by Printerland as part of our Community Programme in partnership with Lexmark.
