Sale Sharks have an ‘Italian Job’

July 22nd, 2010 Posted in General, Industry News, Printerland, Sale Sharks

Sale Sharks will break new ground when they entertain Italian club Benetton Treviso in a pre-season game at Edgeley Park on Friday, 27th August, kick off 7.45 p.m. Under South African coach Franco Smith, Treviso have again qualified for the Heineken Cup, their fourteenth venture in the competition. Last season, they beat French giants Perpignan, and ran Northampton Saints close, once the pitch had been cleared of deep snow! There was only a three-point difference at the end.

Sharks’ Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones said, “It will be good to be up against someone we’ve never played before. Treviso aren’t your normal Aviva Premiership side. They’re a team that’s competed regularly in the Heineken Cup, and have some good players, including former Sale Shark Andy Vilk. It’s great that our supporters can see our new signings, and good for the team to be up against a side which will bring its own brand of rugby and provide a challenge for our squad.”
