Steve Hanley welcomed the Armoured Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment (otherwise known as, Exercise Rhino Poppy Team) on their 1000 Mile cycle ride with a cup of tea at Edgeley Park on Monday morning.

On March 14th 2010, a team of eight cyclists from 1st (United Kingdom) Armoured Division Headquarters and Signal Regiment started their ride to raise awareness and much needed funding for the ‘Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal’, and ‘Help for Heroes’ charities. So far, they have raised £1702.

The team of 8 servicemen had cycled from Headingley Stadium (Leeds Carnegie) and briefly refuelled at Edgeley Park, home of Sale Sharks, on Monday (15th March) morning before they went on their way to Welford Road Stadium (Leicester Tigers).

The seven day bike ride visiting all 16 Clubs involved in the LV= Cup, is proving to be a challenging task but they are determined to complete the ride carrying a rugby ball that will be presented to, and then used in, the final of the 2010 LV= Cup at Sixways Stadium in Worcester between Northampton Saints and Gloucester this Sunday 21st March at 3.30pm.

Sale Sharks wish the Exercise Rhino Poppy Team the very best for the rest of their journey and encourage you support their appeal.
