Samsung Releases Greener Printers to Reduce Waste

December 18th, 2009 Posted in General, Industry News

Recent research has shown that offices in the United Kingdom are not doing their part to recycle and reduce waste.  Studies have shown that although most Brits recycle in their own homes, that many do not carry these green ideals into the workplace.  When asked most of them say that since they are not the ones paying for their indiscretions that they are not as concerned with being green.  With dustbin taxes as well as other financial incentives encouraging most people to recycle at home, the office has no such laws which allow people to basically do as they please.   Many admitted to not doing their part to save energy or paper, and some even said that they were not aware if their company even had a recycling or waste management program.

This research led to Samsung Electronics to develop a new printer which will offer innovative ways for offices to conserve energy.  The two colour printers are equipped with both an energy save and a toner save button which Samsung says will allow companies to save money and energy on printing while still getting high quality color prints.  Samsung launched the printers on the heels of evidence which indicates that seventy five percent of companies are not making efforts to minimize waste when it comes to office resources.  The United Kingdom joins the rest of Europe in this regard as over eighty percent of companies in Europe are not minimizing waste.

Samsung says the printers are largely aimed at medium sized businesses, as they offer money saving options which will appeal to businesses of that size.
