Inkjet Toaster Wins Innovation Prize

A toaster designed to look like an inkjet printer has won second prize at the Berner Design awards in Switzerland.

The stylish model was created by Othmar Muhlebach, an MA student at the University of Lucerne in the southern part of the country.

It is designed to allow a stack of bread to be placed on top, with each slice then sliding through the machine and being dropped out of the bottom in a similar way to a printer, although this time it is toasted to perfection.

The model even comes equipped with a USB port to allow graphics to be burned on to each slice of toast, chosen from a computer.

However, the printer-inspired toaster was only named second at the awards, losing out to a chic chair design named “3014″ by Markus Bangerter and Roger Wyler, who hail from the Swiss capital of Bern.
