he UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses committed to aligning their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Participation in the Global Compact is restricted to companies that are serious about their commitment to working towards implementation of these principles throughout their operations and spheres of influence. In April, 2002, Ricoh Company, Ltd. became a signatory of the UN Global Compact. In order to demonstrate the company’s dedication to this area further, Ricoh Europe has signed up as a separate entity.
The European Business Awards are designed to recognise and promote excellence, best practice and innovation in the European business community, in line with the aims of the European Union and business representative groups across the member states. Due to the quality of entrants, the top ten most successful companies are awarded The Ruban d’Honneur. It is from the Ruban d’Honneur recipients that the final winner in each category is selected.
“We are thrilled to be both part of the UN Global Compact as and to win two Ruban d’Honneur awards,” said Javier Diez Aguirre, Director, Corporate Communications EMEA, Ricoh. “These credentials are testament to Ricoh’s proactive and longstanding approach to environmental responsibility which touches on every area of our business and is embedded within our DNA.”
“It is Ricoh’s vision to be seen as a true leader, not just in its core business, but also as an employer of choice and a good corporate citizen. Key to our brand is ensuring our growth is sustainable from both an economic and environmental perspective,” said Diez Aguirre.
